The Tempest is the universal embodiment, not of war, but of combat. Though the Tempest understands war, she cares nothing for strategy, preferring to fight and win battles one by one. She sees war as a necessary environment for creating the conditions that truly test a warrior, and relishes the opportunity for the mightiest warriors to prove themselves against not single opponents but entire hordes. The Tempest, when she takes the battlefield, is more of a force of a nature than a soldier, striking with impossible speed and parrying most attacks.
Emerging from the elemental plane of Water, her philosophy if battle is entirely based in the ideas of being fluid, flowing around your enemies defenses, advancing inexorably without respite. In the First Dream she learned to blend the strength of Water and Air, moving like a vortex and spitting lighting from her weapons.
As history unfolded, the Tempest found that she most liked to inhabit the form of the finest living warrior of each generation, lending her knowledge, skill, and indomitable will to theirs and experiencing the thrill and terror of combat from a mortal's perspective. Occasionally, she would also take her host as a mate, and her blood flows in the veins of many, producing many of history's mightiest heroes and villains.
